Good news: After months of scandalous snippets and trailers, Selling The OC is finally here! The Selling Sunset spin-off debuted on Netflix on Wednesday, August 24. And saying that this new cast of luxury realtors brought a little bit of drama would be like saying their $20 million mansions are kind of nice.

The reality show follows 11 members of the Oppenheim Group’s Orange County office. One of the agents—and one of the cast’s biggest standouts—is Tyler Stanaland. Tyler hails from a family of luxury real estate agents in the OC, is a pro surfer on the side, and, oh yeah, he’s also married to Brittany Snow (you know, the actress who stole our hearts as Chloe in Pitch Perfect and influenced a generation of people to join college a cappella). After leaving his family business, Tyler is taking on some of the OC’s finest properties alongside Jason and the rest of the O Group.

In between making million dollar deals, Tyler sat down with Women’s Health to discuss his relationship with Brittany, allll the season one drama, and where his friendships stand with the rest of the cast after filming (ahem, spoilers ahead).

Tyler comes from a long line of real estate agents.

The Laguna Beach native isn’t new to the real estate business. In fact, he comes from a long line of realtors who have marketed and sold properties in Orange County for decades: According to his realtor profile, Tyler is a fifth-generation real estate agent. He got his license at just 18, and worked a few years alongside his father before joining the Oppenheim Group.

"It just felt like the right time," he tells Women's Health of his decision to leave the family business in favor of the O Group. "Jason created a legacy and brand of his own that I felt aligned with my clientele, so it just seemed like a good fit if I was to make the move."

Despite leaving the family agency, however, Tyler still works closely with his father, and they share multiple clients and working relationships."It’s nice. You get the best of both worlds," he adds.

He slid into Brittany Snow's DMs with the cheesiest pick up line.

ICYDK, Tyler is married to Pitch Perfect actress Brittany Snow. The pair tied the knot in March 2020 (just days before lockdown) in an intimate ceremony held in Cielo Farms in Malibu, per The Knot.

The couple knew about each other through mutual friends, but sparks didn’t really start to fly until Tyler slid into Brittany’s DMs with a "really lame pick up line," as she previously told People.

So, what was the "lame" pick up line that swooped the Hairspray star off her feet? Well, "it was pretty unforgettable because it really was that bad," Tyler tells WH.

"I remember it was a photo of her at an event and she looked amazing," he says. "For some reason I thought it was a good idea, and I said, 'Babetown, USA.'"

Tyler shares that he didn’t hear back from the John Tucker Must Die actress for a couple of days after that initial message, and when she did finally respond, Brittany poked fun at him for the cheesy intro.

Tyler jokes that it worked because "it was so bad that it was cute." Albeit a bit cringey, the line clearly did something for Brittany, because soon after, the pair started dating.

Tyler never saw himself as a reality TV star.

Despite having a pretty famous wife, the real estate agent never saw himself entering the world of entertainment.

"Doing a reality show is not something I thought I would ever do, but it was an opportunity that came my way at the right time, so it just made sense," Tyler tells WH.

While he says, "it’s really weird to see yourself on a screen," Tyler adds that he feels grateful to be a part of this experience with his coworkers. Plus, both his realtor family and wife Brittany are supportive of his blossoming reality TV show career.

Aside from being a luxury realtor, he's also a pro surfer.

Before settling full-time into his real estate career, Tyler spent much of his early 20s traveling across the globe as a professional surfer.

He tells WH that his surfing career took him to places like Australia, Fiji, Japan, and Indonesia. Not to mention, all across Central America, Europe, and the United States.

While he no longer surfs professionally, Tyler hasn’t abandoned the sport. He still enjoys catching waves during his free time (as evidenced by his many surfing-related posts on Instagram) and often receives endorsement deals from brands despite not competing.

After everything that went down this season, he's on good terms with Kayla and the rest of the cast.

Spoiler alert: In episode five of Selling The OC, scandal sweeps through the office when it’s revealed that fellow cast member Kayla Cardona tried to kiss Tyler during a group get-together. While Tyler and Kayla make amends in episode six, the incident comes up again during the season finale when the Alexes (Jarvis and Rose) call attention to the drama during a celebratory yacht party, in defense of Kayla (who, BTW, seemed uncomfortable during the entire confrontation). This leads to a heated clash between Tyler and the two Alexes.

Despite all of the drama that occurred during filming, Tyler tells WH that he’s currently on speaking terms with most members of the cast. "There are people in the cast that I’m closer with, and then there are those that I choose to keep a bit of separation from, but for the most part things are pretty cordial," he says.

And though he admits things also got flirty with cast mates Alex Hall and Polly Brindle, the situation with Kayla had heavier repercussions. Today, Tyler tells WH that he and Kayla are "on good terms," but a boundary was crossed, which did impact their friendship. "When somebody steps over a boundary like that, it’s something where, although we’re good and we squashed it, it does put a stain on the friendship," he says. "So while we’re totally good, I don’t think our friendship will ever be the same again."

You can expect to see Tyler return for season two.

If you’re a fan of Tyler on Selling The OC, good news for you: You can expect to see him next season (if and when that’s confirmed, obvi)!

"I had a lot of fun in season one. If there’s a season two, it’s something I would be open to," he tells WH.

The first season of Selling The OC is now streaming on Netflix.
