- Selling Sunset star Chrishell Stause, 40, and her boss and co-star, Jason Oppenheim, 44, officially split in late 2021. The couple couldn't agree on one important (and big) question.
- The pair went Instagram official last summer, but called the relationship off just five months later, all of which was captured during season 5 of the show.
- Now, Chrishell has a brand new S.O. in her life. Here's what to know:
Fans of Netflix’s Selling Sunset were in total shock when news broke last year that real estate star Chrishell Stause was dating her boss, Jason Oppenheim. Anyone watching the show knew that the two got along well, but no one expected the pair would get that close.
The pair first went public with their relationship in late July of 2021, after posting some very cuddly pics on Instagram. But fans who binged season 4 wondered why the duo's brief romance wasn't shown. In an interview, Chrishell told E! News that it was her idea to keep their budding relationship on the DL at first until they "knew exactly what it was."
And despite all the excitement around the relationship, it didn't last long. Following their breakup, Chrishell has made it clear that the split was an amicable one over a big question that neither could compromise on. More on that in a sec.
A lot has happened since then, including a new boo for Chrishell. So here’s what’s going on in Chrishell’s love life right now, and what went down between Jason and Chrishell.
Who is Chrishell dating now?
Chrishell took some time off from dating before dipping her toes back in the water, she told Women’s Health in February.
But her love affair with boss Jason Oppenheim taught her to ditch her Cinderella fantasies and embrace relationships for what they are meant to be. “My last relationship was such a beautiful relationship in every sense, except for the fact that we just want different things. There is still a lot of love there,” Chrishell said in her interview with WH.
“I had an old school way of thinking that if you didn’t ride off into the sunset, the relationship was a failure,” she said. “And the relationship with Jason changed my thinking.”
During the Season 5 reunion episode, which aired on May 6, Chrishell officially confirmed that she's dating a 27-year-old Australian singer named G Flip. "I recently have been spending a lot of time with someone that's very important to me. Their name is G Flip. They're nonbinary, so they go by they/them," she said, per People. "And they are an extremely talented musician."
Apparently, the two met while filming a music video: "It started because I was just going to be in their video. And it's about this chaotic love story. I come from soaps, I love acting. And with the job that we have, I don't always get to do it. At first of course I was like yes, let's do that," Chrishell added.
"It was so much fun, we had such a blast. Not everyone's going to be ready for it, but I think it's great. I think it's amazing, the song is amazing."
"Found my new calling. Might open up a new shop🤣💀😎😜," Chrishell commented.
It seems like things are going well for the duo—a source told People that "Chrishell moved them in," meaning the duo currently live together in Chrishell's Los Angeles digs.
Plus, they're already going on baecations together. The happy couple took a trip to G Flip's native Australia and visited the Taranga Zoo before taking a boat ride around the Sydney Harbor.
"Australia I love you! Thank you for the hospitality..." Chrishell wrote in an IG post.
G Flip and Jason are both super supportive of Chrishell.
G Flip, Chrishell, and Jason had the cutest moment at the MTV Awards on Sunday night. It was a big night for Chrishell, who won the award for best reality star. And in a moment of celebration, Chrishell kissed G Flip before standing up to give Jason a big ol' hug.
Then, during her acceptance speech, Chrishell thanked fans for their support after coming out. "Just really quick, I knew about this nomination before I had said anything about my sexuality," explained Chrishell. "I'm not trying to get really deep with you guys, but the fact that this was voted on after means so much to me because I wasn't sure how that was gonna go."
Later on in the evening, Selling Sunset won the award for best docu-reality show. And while the cast celebrated, G Flip, Jason, and Chrishell all shared a big hug together before Chrishell made eye contact with the camera and mouthed, "What is happening?"
She was likely referring to the fact that the cast had just won another award, but she was asking a question on a lot of fans' minds, because the wholesomeness of that moment was unreal.
Fans suspected the new relationship before she announced it.
Georgia Flipo, a.k.a. G Flip, was spotted at an L.A. concert with Chrishell in March. And they also have been leaving each other some prettttty flirty comments on IG.
Chrishell commented on one post: “"How do you make us emotional and horny at the same time?? Your power 🤯😉👏❤️.” These emojis tell a *story,* do they not? The singer was also featured in a little photo dump from the realtor’s IG. "❤️🔥," G Flip commented on the pic.
Who is Jason dating now?
It seems like Jason is still embracing the single life while he licks his wounds after the Chrishell breakup. Fair enough! It was still pretty recent.
OK, so why did they split?
Chrishell told People that she and Jason parted ways because they weren’t on the same page about starting a family. (Chrishell wants kids; Jason doesn’t.)
"I know Jason is so proud of me and we love each other so much," she said in the interview. “You can't talk out this problem. It's just something that, it is what it is.” Still, Chrishell said she’s “extremely proud of” their relationship, adding, “I think that we entered and left it with so much respect and love for each other."
Chrishell also said she plans to become a mom whether she finds the right person or not. "I would love for [finding a partner] to happen, but if it doesn't, I feel like I can do it on my own," she said.
A source told ET that the split "was a long time coming."
"Chrishell wants to have kids much sooner than Jason does,” the insider said. “She is really interested in starting a family, and that's not something that is on Jason's mind right now." They continued, "Chrishell felt like she had to get serious with herself and break her own heart by ending her relationship with Jason because having kids is a main priority for her. She doesn't want to wait or be on Jason's timeline."
What did Jason and Chrishell say about their breakup?
The two took to Instagram to share their thoughts with everyone.
"Jason was and is my best friend, and other than our ideas for family ultimately not being aligned, the amount of respect and love we have for each other will not change going forward," Chrishell wrote in an IG caption. "And thank you Jason for the most incredible relationship and for consistently being honest with me even when it hurts," she finished.
Jason's own post read: "While Chrishell and I are no longer together, we remain best friends and we will always love and support one another. She was the most amazing girlfriend I've ever had, and it was the happiest and most fulfilling relationship of my life."
"While we have different wants regarding a family, we continue to have the utmost respect for one another," he continued. "Chrishell is an exceptional human being and loving her and having her in my life is one of the best things that has ever happened to me."
Then, during the Selling Sunset reunion, the pair got even more candid about why things ended. "This is not the time of my life where I want to have a family," Jason explained. He also said Chrishell is "the love of my life" and that he thinks he might always regret breaking up with her (gasp!).
Turns out, season 5 made the separation tough on both ends. "I think there's a lot to work through, and we're getting there," Jason told reunion host Tan France. And, Chrishell said all the buzz about their relationship after the new episodes dropped made it so "they haven't had time or space to move on yet."
Was their relationship featured on Selling Sunset Season 5?
Chrishell and Jason were adamant about keeping their relationship under wraps—at first. “I think when [a relationship is] public, it puts a lot of just added pressures and publicity and opinion,” Jason told Us Weekly. “I think it’s nice to kind of start a relationship in the way that normal relationships kind of grow and progress. And that’s just between two people.”
Then, Chrishell decided to take matters into her own hands. “lt felt like we were about to be outed by paparazzi photos,” she told Cosmopolitan UK. “But I didn’t want people to think it was a mistake or they’d ‘caught us’ doing something; I wanted to be able to hold my boyfriend’s hand at dinner.”
The duo’s romance plays out on Season 5, and they really are so cute together. It breaks my heart a little.
Has Chrishell said anything else about the breakup?
While she was optimistic in public, a source told People in December that Chrishell was “upset still” right after the breakup.
“She feels like life has kicked her down quite a few times these past years, and that's been a hard feeling," the source said. "She wants marriage and a family, so the fact that the journey hasn't gone as planned has made her feel like life hasn't always been fair to her. It's like a cycle of happiness, curveball, happiness, curveball."
The Selling Sunset star went through a public and unexpected divorce with her then-husband, actor Justin Hartley, in 2019 during filming for season 3.
Chrishell did throw some shade on Jason via Instagram a few days after announcing their split. “Well these eggs aren’t going to fertilize themselves 🤣🤣,” she captioned a post of herself in a leopard print bikini standing under an outdoor shower. “Or maybe they will … who knows. Until then, 2022 bring it on 😜😜.”
Previously, Chrishell and DWTS pro Keo Motsepe dated for three months.
Dancing With the Stars pro Keo caught Chrishell’s attention in 2020. They started sharing cuddly photos together in Dec. 2020 and went public with their relationship soon after. Chrishell called their romance the "coolest thing," per People. "I knew from my dance work I wasn't going to win a Mirrorball from the beginning. To have this come from it, I'm just very smitten," she said.
They vacationed as a couple in December and celebrated their first Valentine's Day less than a month before the breakup.
Neither Chrishell nor Keo have spoken publicly about the breakup. "He's had a tough time with his mom's passing, but he really wanted to make his relationship with Chrishell last," the source close to Keo told People.
And, Chrishell is preparing to start a family—eventually.
For now, she's freezing her eggs and keeping motherhood in mind for the future.
"I have taken the steps to freeze my eggs," Chrishell told People in Sept. 2020. "I’m going to do everything I can to take that power in the situation, and hopefully, that will empower me going forward in the dating world, so there’s not so much pressure."
